FAQs

Q. Doesn’t it cost more to use an interior designer?

A. No. In fact, at Designer Bath and Kitchen, it generally costs less and you get exactly what you want. Material prices are charged only at market prices. Remodeling is fraught with risks so it is important for you to deal with professionals who can manage your project with the minimum surprises.

Q. After the project is started, can there be additional costs?

A. There can be if there is hidden damage in a house such as mold or termite infestations. Such issues should be addressed before going to the next step. While there can be unforeseen material items, they usually are minor in cost. The Designer Bath and Kitchen objective is to be thorough and complete in total scope of the design project at the front end. This detailed advance planning permits project completion without interruption.

Q. I know an interior decorator. Couldn’t I use her?

A. You could but then you may have the burden of the installation work provided by someone totally unfamiliar with and separate from the design. Most interior decorators are not general contractors. Most interior decorators are not kitchen and bath specialists. By using Designer Bath and Kitchen you get the designer working closely with the installation manager right from the beginning. This team approach ensures that you get a professional result with no surprises.

Q. My cousin is a decorator at a furniture store. Couldn’t I use her?

A. Our designers all have a bachelor’s degree in interior design. They are expert specifically in kitchens and bathrooms which can present formidable technical and artistic challenges. Designer Bath and Kitchen is an active member of National Kitchen and Bath Association As such, we are current on design trends, new colors, new products and technology. One of the talented designers at Designer Bath and Kitchen will ensure that you experience the joy of having a great kitchen or bath result.

Q. I have heard of many countertop problems in remodeling. Is that true?

A. It can be. We saw a kitchen counter with newly installed granite that had cracked along a fissure line. It also had dulled because it had not been sealed properly during fabrication. While it initially appeared to be a bargain, the installer was not to be found. Come to Designer Bath and Kitchen, a company that uses only best quality materials and that stands behind its work.

Q. We have been thinking about just replacing our countertops with granite. Is that a good idea?

A. Granite can be a fine choice. Engineered stone such as Silestone or Zodiac can also be a strong option for you. Be careful though. We saw a kitchen with new granite that only  highlighted how old and tired were the cabinets, flooring, tile and lighting in the rest of the kitchen. Everything must go together. Discuss your total look and feel with an expert designer at Designer Bath and Kitchen to get some really sound advice.

Q. Couldn’t we go to one of the “Big Box” home center stores?

A. A great kitchen or bath starts with great design. Many of the Big Box retailers are in short supply of great interior designers. Also, remember, big box stores are in the business of selling products they have in the store. So the stuff they have is the stuff you would get. Designer Bath and Kitchen will provide you a total kitchen or bathroom and can put any of the best products and brands in your kitchen such as Woodmode, Thermadore, Sub Zero, Merillat, Meihle, Kohler, Zodiac, Wolf, Gagenau, Silestone American Standard, or essentially any that you choose because it’s your choice.

Q. My brother-in-law is a contractor. Couldn’t I save some money and use him for the installation?

A. There is a good chance it would cost you more and take much longer. Most contractors lack management skills and specialization required for the highest quality result. Designer Bath and Kitchen uses both a finely honed business model and focused project management techniques. This ensures that your installation will be completed in the shortest time possible with the best quality result. Our expert installers are skilled specifically in kitchen and bath installations.
